On-car DPF cleaning
Both came in with serious DPF problems and were stuck in restricted mode. We carried out our on-vehicle DPF clean on each one and brought the backpressure back down to normal, below 6 mbar, so both drove away out of restricted mode.

Diesels we often see with DPF problems
Soot loads quickly on town routes, and pressure-sensor hoses can split.
Short commutes interrupt regenerations, leading to limp-mode cycles.
Low-temperature runs and a clogged EGR keep soot levels high.
A drifting back-pressure sensor can trigger early regenerations.

Why has my DPF warning light come on?
The filter is holding more soot than the car can burn off on its own. It’s common with short journeys and town driving, where the exhaust never gets hot enough for a full regeneration. A faulty sensor can also trigger the light, which is why we diagnose before cleaning.
How much does DPF cleaning cost?
On-car DPF cleans start from £200. Prices shown are starting prices. The final price depends on many factors, including the vehicle and how complex the job is, and we confirm it before any work starts. Off-car and postal prices depend on the filter, so call or message us for a quote.
How long does a DPF clean take?
Most on-car cleans take 60–90 minutes, but we’ll give you a time when you book, and you’re welcome to wait while it’s done. Off-car cleans take longer, and same-day appointments are often available if we have space. Read how long DPF cleaning takes for more detail.
How do I know the clean has worked?
We take readings before and after the clean, including soot load and back-pressure, so you can see the difference rather than just a cleared warning light.
How often should a diesel regenerate?
On a healthy car, usually every few hundred miles, depending on the vehicle and how it’s driven. If it’s trying to regenerate much more often than that, the filter may need cleaning or the driving pattern changing, so it’s worth getting it checked.
Do you reset the DPF counter after cleaning?
Yes. Once we’ve confirmed the filter is flowing properly, we reset the DPF adaptation values so the ECU knows the filter is clear.
Do you offer mobile DPF cleaning?
No, we no longer offer a mobile service. Every clean is done at our Fenton workshop in Stoke-on-Trent, where we can diagnose the fault and check the readings properly before and after. If you can’t get to us, you can post your DPF instead.
Can I post my DPF to you?
Yes. If you or your garage can remove the filter, you can post it to us from anywhere in the UK. See postal DPF cleaning.

Our workshop is at 201 King Street, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 3ER, open 7 days: Monday to Friday 9am–9pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am–8pm. It’s a few minutes from Hanley and Longton. Visits are by appointment, and drivers come to us from across Staffordshire and Cheshire.
